Why dental implants?
Cosmetic Benefits Of Dental Implants
Dental implants offer countless benefits for patients who are missing teeth or require dentures. Patients quickly notice how beautiful their smiles are and how attractive their gums now appear increasing the willingness to show off your smile. Our team of experts at London Periodontics and Implant Dentistry will focus on creating natural-looking dental implants that match the look and feel of your actual teeth. Many patients cannot even tell the difference between their implants and original teeth. Additionally, dental implants improve oral comfort and speech in a way that traditional dentures do not. As a result, you will likely feel increased self-confidence when smiling or speaking at work or social occasions.
Health Benefits Of Dental Implants:
In addition to their many aesthetic advantages, dental implants offer a number of benefits for your oral health. Dental implants allow for the replacement of one or multiple teeth without affecting the adjacent teeth. Additionally, implants can support a bridge and eliminate the need for removable partial dentures. Finally, dental implants can help preserve the integrity of your mouth and face by supporting gum, cheeks, lips and jawbone structure.
Our doctors will thoroughly evaluate each patient and their particular situation to determine the best technique to achieve the desired result. Firstly, the implant (the part that replaces the root), is placed into your jaw bone. Over the next 3 months, the implant and the bone are allowed to bond together to form an anchor for your new tooth. During those 3 months, you can have a temporary tooth replacement option (such as a temporary bridge or denture) that can be worn over the implant site.
Occasionally, a second step of the procedure is necessary to uncover the implant and attach a healing cap. This temporary healing cap completes the foundation on which your new tooth will be placed.
Finally, a replacement tooth called “crown” is created for you by your dentist and attached to a small metal or ceramic post, called “abutment”. The tooth is then attached to the post in the implant. This is the point where it will feel like a new natural tooth, achieving the look and chewing capacity you were hoping for.
All-On-4 Dental Implants:
At the London Periodontics and Implant Dentistry Center, our dedicated team of dental professionals is proud to offer a wide array of services to help our patients improve their teeth and feel confident once again. One of the popular procedures that we offer includes the All-on-Four dental implant technique. Designed to maximize efficiency, this procedure uses just four implants to support a full set of teeth.
Developed in the 1990’s, this procedure uses four implants that are fixed in upper or lower jaw (which has strong bone density), allowing for a secure hold and higher rate of success. These four implants support a bridge of 12 teeth which is attached on the same day, after the dental implants are put in place.
Ideal for patients with a large amount of missing teeth due to tooth decay or bone loss. The All-on-Four dental implant bridge can be accomplished all within one visit, followed by some shorter review appointments. With just four implants needed, this surgery is minimally-invasive and far less lengthy than other dental procedures.
For denture-wearers who are tired of having to remove and re-insert their teeth on a daily basis, the All-on-Four procedure provides an appealing alternative. Within one day, their smile is markedly improved for years to come.
